Ten Days Waiting...

Today I worked from home. I was expecting a special delivery to my doorstep. A friend at work knew that expecting this package, for me, is like receiving a new limb. How true.

The next two photos were taken with my beloved Kodak. Photographing inside is possible with it. Outside? Not.

My delivery sat on the dining room table for a while. I was very nervous. I thought I’d dust around it for a few hours. My friend at work also suggested I bake a cake before I opened the box, too. How funny. How true. Gina cautioned me to be careful of bumping it. How funny. How true.

Giddy with excitement I became brave,

Within two hours, the memory card was in place, the battery was charged, the neck strap and lens cap were fastened, and the software was installed on my laptop. Right away, I took twelve test photos with my new Fuji. See it here!

I was skeert!

I have a lot to learn about many options and buttons to push. It’s isn’t an SLR but it’s more than a point and shoot. Quick, wonderful zoom and macro! After I learn how to feel it and hold it without bumping it, and to store it in it's carrying case safely, I think we will bond very, very well.

Stay tuned? I'll need days, weeks, months to get it.

I think I’m in love.

WOW! WOW, WOW, WOW!!! That is one honkin serious camera! You must be on cloud nine! Photos already look good right out of the box. Can't wait until you get more comfortable with it.

I have to say in reading more reviews on all that is out there I'm getting discouraged in trying to decide which camera would be best for me. How long did it take you to research and decide?

P.S. LOVED your email ;-) Sad, to say, it is not far from the truth.

If your first few pics are any indication of the power of that camera in your hands, we are all in for a treat in the days ahead. Beautiful pics!

Hi All,

Thanks for your encouraging comments. I'm exhausted after taking almost 200 photos and sent most of them to the dumpster. I have a lot to learn! AUTO is my specialty and I fear I will need to read the dreaded

U S E R ' S M A N U A L.

The camera is great. The user needs help :o)

YAY MARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You got yourself a Big Girl camera! Very very good choice.

Your flowers look just as good, dogs look just as good, hummers look just as good.
As a fellow I-Hate-To-Read-The-Manual chick, I sympathize.
But. It helps. You can do some really great things with all those gizmos. Macro. Program. Burst. Twilight. All these things will help you show the world what YOU see.

I am SO HAPPY for you!

Well, good for you! When reading the descriptions of all the features-- 'Optimized for nature photography with high resolving power, the new lens realizes rich expression over the entire zoom range (28mm-400mm) and features a new lens shift image stabilization mechanism--jumped out at me. I thought how perfect for Mary! I know you will have a great time getting to know your new "limb". Have fun Mary dear.

The FinePix is a great camera! You will love it so much Mary, and I can't wait to see what all you do with it! Congratulations on your new bouncing baby picture taker!!

Gee, Mary,
Do you have anything to capture with the "advanced high-speed continuous shooting?"
Better go out back and check! There must be something!!
:-)

Congrats--new cameras are a great excuse to go wandering. I can't wait to see what you'll find.

How exciting! There's nothing like a new camera to open your eyes to how much is worth photographing...

Dear Mary,
She is beautiful! You will have many happy times with her exploring nature. Teaching her to see the world as you do may take awhile but she has the potential to learn. She is the type of camera you can take any place and know she will proform as needed.
Happy day for you and for us!
Enjoy being a photographer.

Fantabulous! I saw a sneak peak earlier and looked up that Fuji. It sounds like all the features you could want.

Wow Mare, that's such a nice camera. Congratulations!
Is Mr. F jealous? or does he just shake his head and mutter "whatever" like my SOB (spouse of birder)?

Hooty hoot!! Like SGN, I do not read manuals. I twiddle and futz. People who read their manuals advance faster. I'm just sayin'. But I don't think there's much changing girls like us. I like what I see so far. You will get it. Hang in there. And congratulations!

Excellent shot of the headless pink piggy. I may not be much of a photography expert, but I know my headless pink piggies (L has several) and that is a fine example! (The other pictures look nice too!)
