Outdoors is where you'll find me.

DSCF4834

It seems

DSCF4009

our trees have leafed out overnight.

Where was I?

Outdoors, of course. At every chance.

There are many photos I’ve taken that have become old news within hours.

DSCF4439

Flocks of Cedar Waxwings entertained me for over a month and now I miss their wheezes and whispers.

Nothing much to say now …

So, I’ll Show ‘n Tell

DSCF4852

a little.

DSCF4603

Several Ferguses were lost this winter. Very sad.

Subfreezing, numb, they float into the pond skimmer and I get terribly angry.

DSCF5153

Now there are plenty!

DSCF4920

Busy with living and often craving a nap,

DSCF4700

I know I'm alright when I notice the unnoticed,

DSCF4978

emerald green metallic at my feet,

DSCF4975

and a white commontail.

DSCF4970

Things that speed turn my head… was that a hummer?

DSCF4799

Hubba hubba. I crawl on the driveway for this.

DSCF4925

Babies are due on the porch.

I’m ready to see the mountains and special friends.

Thinking about packing soon…

DSCF4935

Already laughing ;-) Will pack extra panties.

West Virginia, look out!

What a treat! Spring's later here in Wisconsin. And your Koi are beautiful, Mary!

I don't know what you mean when you refer to "Ferguses" though? Duh me.

Peg,

A friend wrote a story of a bullfrog named Fergus so I chose the name for my own. Here's the story:

Oh dear, I should have remembered Julie's bullfrog horror story!

But your photo looked like a Green frog, do they show up of their own accord & is North Carolina warm enough for them to winter over in your beautiful koi pond?

When I checked Peterson Bluebird boxes this morning, I almost stepped on a Leopard frog in the leaves. I hope to post his photo tomorrow.
Tonight I'm listening to Spring Peepers and Chorus frogs. So we in Wisconsin are weeks behind you; but catching up slowly.
Good night,

Mares, is that what they mean by "Birding By Butt?"

I see your clay nest pot is still working. It's good you replaced the one you broke.

Hi Mary,
The Hummers arrived last week. Now I have two males trying to claim the feeder. Guess I will have to get another feeder. I thought of you today when the Baltimore Orioles found the grapes.
Have fun "birding" in West Virginia!

mary, the quality of your photography is increasing at an exponential rate. incredible.

incredible selection of wildlife, too. i'm coming over with my camera...

i hear you about taking photos and having them become "old news." i have a couple of month's worth of those.
i finally fixed my computer, so i'll be back to blogging, but it does feel weird to post about winter/spring-transition birds...

i'm still laughing at your wren booty shot. sometimes that's the only shot i can get of birds, and i always feel a little funny about it. lol!

glad you're still at it (blogging, that is).

Don't know how you do it, Mary. Bird butts and dragonflys and lizards caught 'in flagrante':-D

Hope your trip was wonderful. How could it not be, surrounded as you were, with beauty and beautiful people.
