It's Time for February Eye Candy

100_6528

For me, February is the most boring month of the year. I browsed through a thousand photos of spring and summer delights and struggled to choose only a few.

dscf1318

They energized me!

100_6324

Let me share my energy with you today.

We’ve all had enough shades of brown, gray, and winter white. Cabin fever has taken a toll on our psyches, yes? I need color.

100_6901

If I had pretty snow scenes I’d show them,

but look here.

In almost seven weeks,

dscf0984

I’ll be making nectar and waiting

dscf0781

for their homecoming.

dscf1550

Stop looking out the window at snow-plowed roads and gray slush for a few minutes.

100_7325

Remember the inevitable growing season!

100_7780

We’ll be rescuing baby Mockingbirds and

dscf1339

keeping a list of butterflies that will grace our garden flowers.

dscf0598

If you’re so inclined, you’ll sit and chat with a lizard like I do.

dscf0828

We'll always have our camera ready because

dscf1272

a surprise is waiting around every corner, one thousand times a day,

during my favorite months of the year.

I can hardly wait!

dscf2135

I hope you enjoyed my February eye candy.

The snow will melt.

A lovely, fragrant spring will emerge, followed by

dscf1989

a freakin’ hot, buggy, muggy, fry-an-egg-on-your scalp summer. :o)

Now, don't you feel better? I do.

Your last lines made me squawk!
I like to think that our winters of white and gray and brown help me better appreciate the saturated colors of the other seasons.

Talk about a feast for the eyes! I love the pictures of the baby mocker and the humminbird hovering next to the flower.

I can't wait for spring and will start complaining again this summer. ;o)

Just think, Mary.. When you enjoy "Eye Candy"---you don't gain any weight. Ha Ha.... Love your tease pictures... Most of us are SO ready for spring--but not the heat of summer!!!!

Mary, great pictures to let us know that spring will be here soon! I am so tired of the dismal gray days; soon Gilly will be shedding off his winter coat and a shinny new horse will be waiting for me!! :-)
Thanks for the Stacy Westfall link, love her riding!!!

Divine, Mary! Just divine... I feel warmer already.

Sorry, I don't feel any warmer here in MN. And my eyes hurt from all the color...:-).

That blue bird is a little pig.

Lovely! Thanks for the pick-me-up after two gloomy days of rain on the windows here.

Just what I needed after a 5 hour commute that should have been only 30 minutes.

I'll have two of what you are having, Mary.

Wonderful photos, thanks for the flash forward into summer!

What amazing photos! Are they all taken with your P&S? The image quality is great.

I like February - mainly because my birthday is in it. But otherwise, yeah, I can't find anything exciting about February either.

Great summer memories from you camera! I have stopped wishing for seasons to speed up as life seems to progress at a breakneck pace after a certain age anyway. I had to laugh at Richard's comment...:-)

I take offense at the comment about February being a boring month!
Harrumphh--some very famous people were born in February: George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Charles Darwin.
Then there's Valentine's Day--a whole holiday dedicated to a celebration of LOVE.
And then there's MY birthday. . .
Oops--got a little personal there.

Actually I do feel better!! THANK U very much for all those wonderful and stunning pictures! How nice, esp the little baby mocker and those close ups of the hummer. Soooo nice Mary, what other pictures do you have stashed away in your pic files? So enjoyed looking at all that color and yes I wish for some of those scenes to be outside my window right now!!

Hi Mary! Wonderful eye candy. I look forward to spring with the bright colors and wait patiently for the hummers to return. If it could still spring year round, I'd be happy. I am not looking forward to summer. I hate hot, muggy weather and I fear that with so much rain and snow this winter, the bug will be very bad.
Anyway thanks for the spring break. Lisa

Oh tks Mary just what I needed....for a few moments I was under summers spell and as Sherry says dancing with bees.....
You chose some lovely shots and the hummingbirds hold me spellbound. We don't get them here, so I find them quite magical......

February is the only month I do not like, you have just given me light at the end of the tunnel......

I'm sitting by a window watching it snow. I open your blog to a window of gorgeous color and dreamy imagines. Beautiful!!!!

February is the hardest month for me too. I'm blogging about the Florida beach to help get me through!

Beautiful pictures. Now if I could just hear some spring peepers, my life would be complete.

Hello from a native North Carolinian...enjoyed your photos on this cold, windy day!

Heather said...

Ah, that was some fantastic eye candy Mary! Winter is beautiful in its own ways, but I DO start getting itchy for spring around the middle of February. Now... when it's summer and hot and muggy and you feel like you need some pictures of snow, you let me know and I'll remind you about the ice storm that just came through our neck of the woods. =hee hee!=

Jayne said...

Oh, eye candy indeed... intoxicating really. I am warmer just LOOKING at it all! Can't wait either Mar!

Dog_geek said...

Thanks for the fix - I needed that! Everything has been pretty monochrome for a while here. And cold!

Peg Silloway said...

Mmmm - warm spring air - I can smell it now. Buzzing insects, evening peepers, and miniature aerial battles between hummingbirds. I can't wait!!!

Thank you for sharing your warmth and beauty. You really do need to do a book, Mary - your photos are exquisite!

Of course I enjoyed it. If you photographed it and wrote it, I definitely enjoyed it.

Oh, I do feel better already! This is the perfect antidote to another cold, snow-blowing day here in Illinois.
Mary, you must get tired of my saying how gorgeous your pictures are, but I never get tired of seeing them. They're just amazing--as much as I like the hummingbird photos, the picture of the little bird with his mouth open is just precious:)

Great pictures. I can't wait for the short week of spring to arrive - then it's eight long months of mosquito infested, freakin’ hot, buggy, muggy, fry-an-egg-on-your scalp summer. Then a week of fall.

Larry said...

Wonderful colors! That hummingbird looks like it had a neck stretching operation.-I'll be looking forward to Spring any day now. My cat saw its shadow. That means 3 more weeks of winter.
