It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas.

100_0424
Toasty inside.

Been disconnected from the blogosphere since Friday morning and the internet connection and land line issues weren’t solved until today.

A Christmas dinner in uptown Charlotte last night leaves me a tad under the weather today as the entrée wasn’t served until very late in the evening. It was a luxurious party that ended too late for this early-to-bed girl. Dancing? No. What kind of party is one without music and dancing?

There was a finch convention at my house before the rains came on Saturday. The entire variety panicked throughout the day.

100_0416
We received an inch of rain.
Please pardon my strange fascination with raindrops on windows…

The clouds cleared this morning and gave way to sunshine.
The winds are damaging as I write this.

Two Boston Terriers need action.
I blew noises into the cardboard wrapping paper tube.
Boston ears perked.
Slid their favorite biscuit inside and clogged the two ends with wrapping tissue.
Rattled the tube.

100_0429
Ooops. Forgot to switch camera to the “action” mode. Bella took the lead and ate the biscuit in about seven seconds.

Chloe gave her a good contest, but…

Sometimes I hate my sister. After all of that, I didn’t get the prize.

Make me feel better and put a bit of deli cheese in my chewie, will you please?

Monday and Tuesday will be my last two days of work before my FOURTEEN CONSECUTIVE DAYS OFF during the college break. Until that time, when I hope to have something "post worthy" to offer, my blogging will be quiet.

The giddy anticipation I feel about time off to rest often, watch the birds in daylight, clean the house a lot, and to do whatever I want is almost too much to comprehend. In a weird way, I really don’t want those days to begin as I am enjoying looking forward to them very much right now and knowing those days will fly by like a late morning dream.

I’m already worried about making the most of my days off and being productive.
Dammit.
The worrying needs to stop.

Make the most of those days by relaxing and rejuvenating as much as you can. That's what I plan to do with mine!

Your house looks beautiful and I loved the shot of the Christmas lights through the rain-soaked window.

What a great post. I love your living room. Are those the real doggies sitting by the hearth?

And, YEAH! We also got an inch and a half of rain.

Your Christmas tree is beautiful.
An inch of rain? Hooray for you!
14 straight days off? I'm so jealous! Be sure to send me an e-mail once in a while at work to break up my next 14 days of end-of-the-quarter/year drudgery, OK?

It's so beautiful and festive over here- sort of that impressionistic, too. Really lovely. Not the dogs. They're just silly. Sweetly silly.

Your tree and wreath look so sophisticated and chic! Very beautiful!

Glad you've finally gotten some rain. It's been so long I can see why you have a fascination with it on your window. Some unknown substance obscuring your view!! (We had about 6" more of snow yesterday - it's a white Christmas for sure.)

The pics of the girls tearing apart the wrapping roll are great. I don't dare do that with ours because they'd eat the cardboardy stuff and paper too. Too bad - it looks like a whole lot of fun for dogs.

I agree completely about having time off - sometimes the anticipation is the most fun! I figure I've earned this vacation to do whatever I want. Maybe just a few clean up/organize projects - but not many. Read, play video games, and see my family - that's mainly what my list is comprised of.

Have a great, short week, Mary!!

Ah Mary doesn't the rain feel good. Your tree is beautiful and what fun with Bella and Cloe. Enjoy your time off. WE will all be around still. In fact I just may take time off to do some web site maintenance.

Wow... fourteen days off! That's great. And you're right. Being worried about being "productive" needs to stop. That is your time. The rest of the year you are under someone else's thumb. Don't put yourself under your own thumb. :)

Beautiful pictures, btw. Your livingroom is just gorgeous!

Days off to relax? What's that?! Your terriers look pretty happy with your call to action :-)

Oh Mary, I know how you feel. Once those glorious days start, they'll be that much closer to being over. But let that stress go, friend. A day of watching bewds ought to fix you right up.

Wow, 14 days is a long time! Enjoy for sure and it is starting to look like Christmas!

Bella and Chloe look so cute with their colourful scarves. You are lucky that they don't disturb your beautiful Christmas tree and decorations.

Tomorrow is your last day of work. Woo hoo!! Try to put the worrying aside. You don't have to do ANYTHING when you are on holidays - not even blog!! Rest up, relax and enjoy the season and the start of the New Year!!!

Liza, you and I will make the best of it...oh, those Christmas breaks from education!

Mary in Liverpool - I know you will enjoy your time since Winter has arrived.

NCMountainWoman, the rain is a blessing, isn't it? Those dogs are ceramic! Mine don't sit and stay like the Sandicast dolls.

Ruthie, I will not forget you...look forward to my pestering :o)

Lisa, my girls will be way too spoiled for two weeks. I will enjoy the relaxation but it won't be quiet. I'll enjoy working around the house without a schedule to keep.

Pam, thanks. I'll be in touch - probably more often than now.

Laura, this is the best time! Four hours at work tomorrow will be such a pleasure. At the office, wee are all in the holiday state of mind. Typical in education.

Jean, big hug to you, too. You are so busy and I hope you find time to relax and enjoy your beautiful home with family.

Sherry, I'll be thinking of you on your journey. You were probably packed and ready to go a week ago.

Vicki, yes, they are the silliest dogs on earth. Soooo good for the soul.

Alyssa, thank you - I love my silver and gold tree but I stare at my smaller colorful tree the most - filled with old ornaments and memories.

Jayne, I wish you time to do whatever you heart desires, too. We both need to get out of our backyards :o)

Toni, I'll be doing some website "makovers" also. I'll be in touch quite often, hopefully.

Chani, it's a bad habit I have of being under my own thumb :o)

Chris, enjoy your time off! I know how much you look forward to it. Education is exhausting as the year builds and builds. Late December is a good time to rest and get ready for semester two.

Larry, there was music playing in that photo AND sips of wine :o)

Nikkipolani, it doesn't take much to please a Boston Terrier. They're always UP for action. Keeps me active on days I would otherwise nap? LOL!

Delia, I will have many bird fixes. Thank you. I'll certainly share them.

Monarch, 14 days seems like a long time. It isn't, really. But I'll make the best of each day.

Kate, I will be blogging after a little rest. This is the first year that my oldest, Chloe, has not stole ornaments from the tree and eaten them. Perhaps she is getting too mature (old), or it's early in the season... My fingers are crossed for "no lost ornaments" for the first time in 11 years.

For your days off--think water. Be like the rain and just go with the flow.
Lovely tree--infused with the glow of anticipating Christmas.

Mary, your Christmas tree is beautiful along with the other deorations. Love the rain drops on your window, 1 in, that's great, can you keep it coming since you are so far behind on rain. Enjoy seeing Bella & Chloe in their Christmas outfits, they look like twice as much fun as Julies Chet in the pics.

Soak it up, Mary dear. (But I know what you mean. I have 2 weeks of no RAPTOR and I am looking forward to it, but I don't want it to start!)
How dumb are we? There are folks who work 2 jobs, every day of the year, and we are whining about this?

Ho, ho, ho, and stuff.
Enjoy the birds!
